qEEG brain mapping

A qEEG  (Quantitative Electroencephalogram) measures electrical activity in the form of brain wave patterns. It is sometimes referred to as “brain mapping.” A qEEG provides insight into how our brains function. It is a non-invasive tool and is helpful in assessing emotions, thinking patterns, stress and anxiety, impulsivity, and cognitive flexibility.

The qEEG report is a comprehensive document that shows areas of the brain that may be dysregulated and connects these areas with the symptoms you may be experiencing. Your Brain Health Specialist will interpret the report and, if appropriate, will present a recommended plan for Neurofeedback or another modality.

Neurofeedback, also called qEEG Biofeedback, is a state-of-the-art, non-invasive, drug free method for teaching the brain to function in a more balanced and healthy way. Clients participate in at-home training sessions using a computerized neurofeedback program that teaches the central nervous system to reorganize and regulate brainwave frequencies. Neurofeedback “rewards” the brain to correct itself and adopt more effective patterns.

If Neurofeedback is determined to be an appropriate option, you can begin training right away. Each Neurofeedback training session lasts approximately 20 minutes and is done at home. Before the session begins, a sensors is placed on your head (we will show you how to do this); you will then train for 20 minutes.

When an optimal brainwave pattern is achieved, your brain is rewarded with a brighter screen and louder volume. When your brain is exhibiting non-optimal patterns, the screen gets darker and the volume is reduced. Our team closely monitors every training session and we are there to support you every step of the way.
